The French National Research Programme for Environmental and Occupational Health (PNR EST), which is managed by ANSES, is an incentive programme that aims to promote outstanding long-term research in the areas of environmental and occupational health.

The call for research proposals (APR) is launched yearly to motivate scientific communities in the fields of environmental health and occupational health to develop new methods and tools at all stages of health risk assessments, particularly in order to document research issues raised by the relevant ministries and government agencies.

The MRC/DfID African Research Leader scheme is a highly prestigious award, jointly funded by the MRC and the UK’s Department for International Development (DfID), for non-clinical and clinical researchers of exceptional ability. The aim of the scheme is to strengthen research leadership and capacity across sub-Saharan Africa by attracting and retaining researchers of high ability. The scheme will be launched as a pilot in the first instance, initially aiming to award support for two or three research leaders.
